I hopped on Facebook one day and saw I had a few notifications that I was tagged in a post in the Monmouth County Moms Facebook group so I clicked on the post to see what it was. It was a mama looking for a newborn photographer who specializes in lifestyle photography, has a studio and is comfortable with preemie babies. I was like wow, that is exactly me! If you’re new around here you may not know that my first career was as a postpartum and newborn nurse at a local hospital. I cared for both mother and baby the first days after baby was born. I am trained professionally to care for newborns. While I was not a NICU specific nurse, I learned how to detect distress in a newborn and general health concerns to be aware of. I thanked the friends who referred me and left my own comment letting the mama know how to reach me.
I actually don’t expect to hear back from people looking for photographers in this group because they typically receive a lot of names for photographers in the area and I operate quick different from most. This request was so specific though and I myself couldn’t even think of someone else with those specifications that I thought maybe I would hear from her. Sure enough, a few days later I received a call from a mama inquiring about a newborn photography session in the studio for her baby that was born prematurely about 2 weeks prior. I knew it had to be the same mom! We got to talking and quickly realized we knew a lot of the same people and had common interests and beliefts. I was so excited when she decided to book!
Baby M and his family made the trip to my studio in Oceanport a week or so later where we captured him just as he is with his loving family. They had recently moved into a new home so mom wanted somewhere a little more neutral to have their photos done. That’s what I love about my studio; it can suit almost any family looking for neutral, light and bright images. We captured some sweet moments of the whole family, Baby M with his big brother and Baby M on his own. We also created a sweet album for all their favorites and had some images printed for their walls. You’ll notice when you get the bottom of the post I included a side view of one of the prints. I offer mounted prints to my clients to help ensure stability to the prints so they don’t warp when framed.
Thank you S family for trusting me to capture these moments for you. It’s always such an honor.
