This newborn photography session in my client’s home was one of those sessions that for some reason made me really emotional! I was taking this sweet girl’s pictures and I was overcome with pure joy and awe. Being in the presence of a newborn and new parents is a place I find peace and happiness. It truly is an honor being invited into this sacred space to document these first moments of a baby’s life. Working with moms and babies in the hospital as a nurse gave me a unique perspective into the beginnings of the formation of a family, their connections and their bonds. This family was so full of love that I could literally feel it. They were getting ready to move but our session took place in their apartment before they packed up and moved. It was a rainy day and I had to capitalize on the light in this little space near the windows. I always tell families who are planning newborn portraits in their home, all I need is a window and a place for you to sit. It’s the connection I am there to document. I even got to include their pet cockatiel Miso. I grew up with a cockatiel so that only added to my emotions!
