welcoming baby with a simple, natural, intimate in home photography session

It’s so wonderful being able to meet couples before baby is born and get to know each other before we meet for their newborn portraits. In-home newborn sessions are so intimate. It can be daunting to invite a stranger into your home so shortly after having a baby. The maternity session gives us a chance to warm up to each other and build trust.

Documenting your family in your home is so special because it always me to showcase your lifestyle and incorporate more of you into your portraits. Not only was I able to meet their little boy but I also got to meet their firstborn, their fur baby Murphy. I was told he’s not a particularly friendly cat, but this furry boy gave me nothing but love. I was thrilled when they chose a picture with him for their album.

I noticed a guitar in the home and asked if they played. Dad said he did so we brought it into the nursery and he played a sweet tune while mom and baby gently swayed. Another personal and meaningful touch was the swing just off their entryway. During pregnancy mom and envisioned having her portrait taken with her new baby in that swing. It was special being able to capture that for her. We won’t mention how a few days later it fell… Everyone was okay! But no longer used to swing baby to sleep.
