Monmouth County New Jersey Twin newborn & family photography session
In April I met the most beautiful expectant twin mama and her energetic 18 month old boy. In June, a few weeks earlier than anticipated, they welcomed their sweet identical twin girls. I had the pleasure of meeting them when they were about 6 weeks old.
I was excited at the challenge of photographing a family with three babies under the age of 2 and it was honestly so much easier than I had anticipated!! We set the expectation that it was going to be a bit crazy and we’d need to just go with the flow which I think was helpful because it released some of the pressure on all of us. Plus I gave the family some tips to prepare themselves before my arrival and even with three under 2, they did a great job preparing! Mama was finishing up feeding the babies when I arrived so they had full bellies and then we swaddled them to keep them warm, sleepy and calm so we could get the full family photos done before big brother lost interest and patience. Mama borrowed one of my client dresses from Nothing Fits But which she wore beautifully.
Big brother was all smiles until it was time to start photographing and then the tears started flowing. We incorporated play, love and silliness and all was well after the initial tears. He’s really such a sweet boy.
Mama was was a little nervous about scheduling newborn photos because the girls were born early and she worried they were too late with newborn photos but I think it was the perfect timing. The babies (and mom) had time to establish feeding, brother had a few weeks to adjust to the change and the babies had a big sleep the night before which may not have happened if we scheduled the session any earlier. So this is your reminder if your baby is already a few weeks old, please still reach out to photographers because a lot of us will be more than happy to fit you in and capture this time for you!
